Wendy Ryan

Wendy has worked in East Sussex children services for the past 13 years. She started work in The Education Welfare Service, where she learnt about the many issues facing families and how that directly impacts the schools young people attend. Wendy worked alongside social services and other agencies in supporting families to make positive changes. Her role developed into a more preventative role, working as a trainer and running a training team to deliver lessons, provide 1:1 support and assemblies to schools. Later Wendy added behaviour support to her role, supporting children who find aspects of school difficult and can therefore be disruptive with many finding themselves at risk of permanent exclusions from school.

Wendy currently works with children, families and schools to support them in issues around bullying, friendships, self- esteem, behaviour and school attendance. She attends regular refresher training and receives research from the anti- bullying alliance, U.K. Safer Internet and Cyops.

Wendy has worked in many schools in East Sussex, both primary and Secondary, from Key stage 1 up to Key stage 4. She tailors many of her sessions to meet the requirements of the school or young person. These run as whole class sessions or small group work, 1:1 support and assemblies. She also runs parent sessions, especially on anti- bullying and e-safety. Wendy often works on a whole school approach to cover subjects such as anti -bullying, e-safety and positive friendships. She makes sessions that meet the particular needs of a school, teacher or individual young person.
